The division »Audio and Media Technologies« is one of the world’s leading organizations in audio, speech, and media processing. For over 25 years, it has been shaping innovations in sound and vision – including groundbreaking technologies such as MP3 and AAC codecs. More than 200 engineers and scientists develop cutting-edge solutions that are used worldwide.

  • Explore immersive audio technologies: You learn about Ambisonics coding in the 3GPP IVAS codec.
  • Shape spatial audio experiences: You develop, implement and test different methods for rendering and upmixing Ambisonics signals.
  • Advance intelligent audio processing: You reproduce and improve works on DNN-based upmixing and coding of Ambisonics signals.

What you contribute

  • You hold a bachelor’s degree in science or engineering and are currently enrolled in a related master’s degree.
  • You bring hands-on experience with Python and PyTorch.
  • You have successfully completed a small deep-learning project.
  • You are able to work independently and deliver reliable results.
  • You have excellent German and solid English skills.

We will agree your start date and weekly working hours with you individually (as a working student 20 hours per week) . You can reduce your hours before exams and increase them during semester breaks. You can set your working days flexibly. After your studies, there are attractive opportunities to join the institute on a full-time or part-time basis. You can flexibly determine the working days of your fixed-term employment contract.
