The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft (www.fraunhofer.de) currently operates 76 institutes and research facilities in Germany and is the world's leading organization for application-oriented research. Around 30,000 employees work on the annual research volume of 2.9 billion euros.

Adaptivity is an indispensable characteristic for the networked world of tomorrow. Intelligent components can recognize and evaluate changes in the environment or in the system itself and adapt to them independently. As a partner to industry, Fraunhofer IIS/EAS develops key technologies for networked adaptive systems and offers innovative technologies and robust solutions with around 120 employees at its Dresden site.

Wireless communication is a key technology here. Especially for industrial applications, the "Industrial Wireless Communication" group is developing a real-time wireless technology together with teams from other IIS locations. Through your collaboration, you will make an important contribution to flexible and resource-efficient production processes and many future-oriented applications such as robot-robot collaboration.

Are you enthusiastic about embedded systems in the field of wireless communication? Then you've come to the right place!

What you do with us

  • As part of a team of FPGA, software and embedded experts, you will help shape the further development of a real-time wireless technology on Xilinx UltraScale MPSoC platforms and support both the programming implementation of the wireless protocol and the validation in the laboratory and in production environments.
  • To evaluate and optimize your solutions, you will design suitable test scenarios in our testbed, set them up and carry them out.
  • You will develop your solutions independently in close cooperation with customers from industry and validate them in industrial production environments.
  • You will actively develop the research field of industrial wireless systems, help shape customer offers and support the acquisition of new research and development projects.

What you bring with you

  • Completed scientific university studies in electrical/information technology, computer science or a comparable education, preferably with a doctorate or doctoral intention
  • Well-founded practical knowledge of development for embedded platforms in C/C++ and FPGAs
  • Practical experience in the development of digital signal processing algorithms and their implementation in hardware
  • Experience in characterizing implemented algorithms in hardware under laboratory conditions
  • Initial experience in one of the following wireless technologies (WLAN, Bluetooth, LTE, 5G) is advantageous
  • Very good written and spoken German and English skills
  • Enjoy goal-oriented, creative, independent work and designing a research topic

What you can expect

  • Attractive working environment in a highly innovative key industry
