The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft (www.fraunhofer.com) currently operates 76 institutes and research institutions throughout Germany and is the world’s leading applied research organization. Around 30 800 employees work with an annual research budget of 3.0 billion euros.

Our »Audio and Media Technologies« division at the Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits IIS in Erlangen develops world-class audio and speech processing technology and is one of the world's largest organizations in this field. Known worldwide for our significant contribution to the development of MP3 and ACC, our »Audio and Media Technologies« department has been working on multimedia technologies as well as audio and image coding for more than 25 years. Motivated by this success, we aim to address new challenges in 3D reconstruction for media and communication applications. Over 300 engineers and scientists drive state-of-the-art innovation and develop technologies that are currently used in over 10 billion devices and have already been licensed to more than 1 000 companies.

  • In this context, you’ll open up new areas of application in media creation and e-commerce, or more broadly, in the future metaverse.
  • Starting with our novel algorithms, you will create efficient implementations for high-speed processing, future extensions, and maintenance.
  • This includes both our core libraries containing the 3D reconstruction algorithms, as well as native and web-based application-specific demonstrators.

What you bring to the table

  • Degree in electronics, computer science, natural science, engineering science, media technologies, or a related subject
  • Good knowledge in Python and C++ programming
  • Understanding the foundations of multi-view geometry, multi-view stereo, or neural radiance fields
  • Optional: Experience in GPU programming such as CUDA, OpenCL, OpenGL, and WebGL
