The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft (www.fraunhofer.com) currently operates 76 institutes and research institutions throughout Germany and is the world’s leading applied research organization. Around 30 000 employees work with an annual research budget of 2.9 billion euros.

In the Mixed-Signal Automation working group, we develop innovative software for the automated design of analog integrated circuits in particular, in close cooperation with our colleagues from the circuit design department, which we use in-house as well as with our partners and customers. With our software "Intelligent IP" we follow the approach of so-called circuit generators. You can find more information at: www.intelligent-ip.org.

What you do with us

Intelligent IP has been in use for several years and is constantly being adapted to new requirements. You are welcome to support us in the context of an internship, a thesis or as a student assistant. Possible topics are:

  • Analysis, test and implementation of interfaces to existing standard CAD software,
  • Benchmarking of typical design steps based on reference circuits and comparison with alternative design methods,
  • Development and generator implementation of flexible circuit concepts and layouts,
  • Adaptation to new manufacturing technologies, e.g. FinFET,
  • Further development, test and validation of API functions and generators
  • Development of components for the graphical user interface.

What you bring along

In your application, please tell us your area of interest and the scope of your work. We can discuss further details individually.

Prerequisites are

  • enrollment in a degree program with corresponding previous knowledge
  • ideally you already have some experience with programming languages like Python
